Why does Texas heat make porta potties worse?

Heat speeds up everything inside a porta potty. North Texas summers run in the upper 90s and past 100°F, and a plastic unit in full sun gets hotter than the air. Odor rises and the blue deodorizer wears out sooner. A unit that is fine for 7 days in April can smell by day 4 in August.

How often should a porta potty be serviced in summer?

Weekly service handles about 8 to 10 workers per unit on a 40-hour week most of the year. From June to September, we suggest twice-weekly service when a unit serves more than 10 workers. In July and August, go twice weekly at 6 or more workers. Twice weekly costs $60 more per 28-day cycle.

Does shade really help a porta potty in the heat?

Yes. Shade is the cheapest fix for summer odor. A unit in shade stays cooler inside than one in full afternoon sun, so the tank and deodorizer last longer. We place it under a tree or on the north side of a building when our truck hose can still reach it within about 50 feet.

  • North or east side of a building gets afternoon shade.
  • Under a tree is fine if no low limbs block the vent stack.
  • Keep the door out of the afternoon sun from the west.
  • Stay within about 50 ft of where the truck parks.

Why does hydration mean more porta potty use?

Crews told to drink water every 15 to 20 minutes use the porta potty more often. That is a good thing for safety, but it fills a 60-gallon tank sooner. A standard unit holds about 200 uses between services. A crew of 10 drinking more in July can reach that in 4 or 5 days.

Rough math: 4–5 visits per worker per day in summer
Crew per unitUses per day (about)Days to about 200 uses
5 workers20–258–10 days
10 workers40–504–5 days
15 workers60–75About 3 days

These are estimates from the 200-use tank rating, not a promise. Big drink coolers and long shifts push them higher.

What about hand sanitizer and venting in summer?

Each summer service visit refills hand sanitizer and checks the vent stack. Sanitizer runs out faster when crews use the unit 4 or 5 times a day. The vent pulls hot air and odor up and out through the roof, so we check it is clear of leaves, wasps and tape every visit.

  • Sanitizer refilled every visit; ask for a hand wash station on crews over 20.
  • Vent stack checked for nests and blockages.
  • Translucent roof lets light in; do not cover it with a tarp, which traps heat.
  • Door latch checked so the door closes and holds shade inside.

For real soap and water, add a 2-sink hand wash station.

What does Justin Rental Works do differently June through September?

From June through September, our crews suggest twice-weekly service on busy sites, place units in shade where the hose reaches, and add a fresh deodorizer charge at every visit. Extra visits are $55 each. Twice weekly is $60 more per 28-day cycle, so 4 extra visits cost less than buying them one at a time.

  1. Ask about crew size at bookingWe check workers per unit and the month, then suggest weekly or twice weekly.
  2. Place for shadeNorth side of a building or under a tree, inside the 50-ft hose reach.
  3. Service on schedulePump, scrub, fresh deodorizer, 2+ rolls, sanitizer, vent and latch check.
  4. Text you a service noteYou get a note after each visit so you know it was done.

Long jobs bill by the cycle; see 28-day porta potty rentals and job site toilets.

Why does my porta potty smell worse in August?

Heat breaks down waste faster and wears out the deodorizer sooner. Shade and twice-weekly service are the two fixes that work.

Can I switch to twice-weekly service mid-rental?

Yes. Call or text and we add the second visit to the route. Twice weekly is $60 more per 28-day cycle.

Can I get one extra cleaning before a busy day?

Yes. An extra service visit is $55. Call a day ahead so we can fit it on the route.

Should I put ice or bleach in the tank?

No. Ice only adds liquid to the tank, and bleach does not stop the odor. Leave the tank to us; we add a fresh deodorizer charge each visit.

Do you service in the rain or on very hot days?

Yes. We service on schedule Monday through Saturday. On storm days we may shift a visit by a day and text you.
